True Religion

True religion, how does one identify it? Is there a way to tell the true from the false? Or does it make any difference?

If it doesn’t make any difference, would you rather someone tell you the truth or a lie?  Of course, you would rather that someone tells you the truth.

So, reason tells us that there is a difference in what is truth and what is false. So, with religion there is also the true and there is also the false.

There is a way to identify the true religion and the false religions.  The true religion ENLARGES the person.  The false religion STIFLES the person.

So, how does true religion ENLARGE the person? True religion offers a STANDARD of conduct, for its adherents, to be learned.
1. True religion seeks to increase, in its adherents, knowledge of its object of worship.
2. True religion seeks to increase, in its adherents, knowledge of self.
3. True religion seeks to increase, in its adherents, knowledge of others.
4. True religion seeks selflessness rather than selfishness.
5. True religion seeks to improve self which in turns improves the community.
6. True religion brings benefits to self and community.
7. True religion enlarges its adherents intellectually, emotionally, socially and spiritually.

So, how do false religions STIFLE the person?  It stifles the person by using one or more of the following:
1. It keeps knowledge in the hands of the few.
2. It attempts to keep its adherents ignorant.
3. It seeks only power, pleasure or prestige.
4. It seeks fantasy rather than fact.
5. It seeks to enlarge its adherents emotionally, leaving out the intellectual and spiritual.
6. Its standard is what feels good at the moment.
7. It seeks the mystical rather than the rational and spiritual.
8. It uses fear and/or ignorance to control its adherents.
9. It seeks the visible rather than the invisible.
10. It follows its leader rather than a standard.
11. It seeks social experience rather than rational and spiritual experience.
12. It’s standard is ever changing in order to please and keep its adherents.

Does your religion enlarge or stifle the person?
