This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Galatians 3:2.

Some have interpreted this to mean that the Holy Spirit indwells a Christian only through the Word of God.

But look at the context. The Galatians were trying to combine the Law of Moses and the “Law of Christ/Grace/Faith”. Paul is saying that one cannot combine the two without falling from grace.

The Galatians had to know that they did not receive the Spirit by the Law of Moses.  So, how did they receive the Spirit?  As a result of being obedient to the words [hearing of faith] that  Paul taught which was the “Law of Christ/ Grace/Faith”.

If the Spirit indwells through the Word only, does the Spirit depart as one grows older and gradually loses one’s memory?
