Kingdom

All Hail the King.

The Kingdom was prophesied long before is came into existence:

Long ago the Kingdom was prophesied in Daniel 2:44, And in the days of these kings [the Roman kings] the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed; and the kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Jesus came into the world to become King:

Jesus tells Pilate that He came to be King in John 18:37, Pilate therefore said to Him, Are You a king then? Jesus answered, You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.

Jesus went about preaching the gospel of the Kingdom:

Jesus went every preaching the gospel of the Kingdom as recorded in Matthew 9:35, Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

The Kingdom was to come during the lifetime of most in His audience:

Jesus told His audience when the Kingdom was to come in Matthew 16:28, Assuredly, I say to you, there are some standing here who shall not taste death till they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.

Jesus tells about the coming of the Kingdom and the ending of the Law of Moses:

Luke 16:16, The law and the prophets were until John. Since that time the kingdom of God has been preached, and everyone is pressing into it.

The coming of the Kingdom was with power:

The Kingdom did not come in a weak way but with power as recorded in Mark 9:1, And He said to them, Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.

The Kingdom is not a visible, physical earthly Kingdom:

Jesus tells the Pharisees where to look for the Kingdom in Luke 17:20-21, Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.

Jesus tells Pilate what kind of Kingdom His is in John 18:36, Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but My kingdom is not from here.

Jesus has all authority as a King now:

Jesus tells His apostles who has the authority in Matthew 28:18, And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

Peter tells us in 1 Peter 3:22, who [Jesus] has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.

Jesus is reigning as King in His Kingdom now:

Paul records in 1 Corinthians 15:25, For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.

Jesus Kingdom is a Spiritual Kingdom rather than a physical kingdom:

Paul shows that the Kingdom is a spiritual Kingdom in 1 Corinthians 15:50, Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.

Paul writes in Romans 14:17, for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.

The humble are the citizens of the Kingdom of God:

Jesus says in Matthew 5:3, Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

The Kingdom of God is to have first place in the lives of its citizens:

Again Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

One must be born into the Kingdom:

Jesus talks to Nicodemus about the Kingdom in John 3:5, Jesus answered, Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Paul clarifies what Jesus told Nicodemus in Titus 3:5, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

Only those who do the will of the Father will enter the Kingdom:

Jesus says in Matthew 7:21, Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.

Luke tells what the teaching about the Kingdom produced:

Acts 8:12, But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

Peter tells us that God does not just barely save the citizens of the Kingdom:

2 Pet 1:10-11, Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Those who have entered the Kingdom are Citizens of the Kingdom:

Ephesians 2:19, Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,

Jesus taught when one has entered the Kingdom that one must not look back to the past:

Luke 9:62, No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

God rescues Christians from the kingdom of Satan and conveys them into the Kingdom of His Son:

Paul shows the Christian where he came from in Colossians 1:13, He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

Paul tells us that God wants us in His Kingdom in 1 Thessalonians 2:12, that you would walk worthy of God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

Jesus used parables to teach about the Kingdom:

Jesus taught that one must understand His teachings to be productive in the Kingdom:

Matthew 13:23, But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundred fold, some sixty, some thirty.

Again He taught that when the seed of the Kingdom, though small, is planted in good soil it will grow up and spread out to be much greater in size than the seed:

Matthew 13:31-32, The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.

He also taught that the Kingdom would influence everything that it touches:

Matthew 13:33, The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.

He taught that those who recognized the value of the Kingdom would willingly give up everything that they have for it:

Matthew 13:44-46, Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Jesus taught that some who were gathered into the Kingdom would be hypocrites but they would be cast out at Judgment Day:

Matthew 13:47-48, Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind, which, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.  So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, and cast them into the furnace of fire.

At the end of time Jesus, the King, will deliver the Kingdom to His Father:

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:22-28, For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.  But each one in his own order: Christ the first fruit, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.  The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. For ‘He has put all things under His feet.’ But when He says, ‘all things are put under Him,’ it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.
