How are you feeling? Are you feeling numb?  Are you bored with life?  Do you feel dead? Do you do things to feel alive again?  Afterwards do you then feel alive? Do you realize that this a very, very common feeling?

How do I know that this a common feeling?  Have you driven down the Interstate lately? Go on a Friday afternoon.  How many cars or trucks are towing boats?  Those people are looking for a way to feel again. Go to a baseball or football game. Those people are looking for a way to feel again.  Go to a movie. Those people are looking for a way to feel alive.

When those boaters get home again, how do they feel? After those people get home from the ball game or movie, do they now feel alive?

Do you suppose that all these people are looking in the wrong place to feel alive?

These people feel numb, bored with life and dead because they are carrying a heavy burden.  It is like being tied to a ball and chain.  All of their energy is used up carrying around that burden. But you do not need to carry that burden around. Provision has been made to have that burden removed. Are you ready to have that burden removed?

Ephesians 2:4-7, But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

You see, when we do not live according to God’s plan, we are living in trespass (sin).  When we live in sin, we are dead. When we live in sin, we are numb and bored with life.  When we live in sin, we will always be looking for a way to feel alive. But it won’t come. When we live in sin, we live in hopelessness.

Jesus said in Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

You see the burden can be lifted.  There is no longer any reason to feel numb, bored with life and dead.  Jesus can lift the burden of sin from you and make you feel alive. Isn’t that what you really want? To feel alive?
